Antenna Mounting Tips
a) Pole mount
1) A length of ½” pipe may be driven into the earth onto which a ¾” PVC pipe will tightly thread. Use a union to strengthen the pipe end. Two 5’ lengths make it portable, joined by a long union at center. At the top, a short union chamfered to clear the rivets will make a nice fit. The coax can be routed thru any length of PVC and exited thru a “tee” leg slotted to make the turn, preferably near the top for best rigidity.
Alternately a floor flange and pipe nipple may be attached to a suitable base (I used and old lamp table top made of particle board.
b) Suspension mount
1) A spool of monofilament fishing line can be draped over a tree limb or other overhead object. A slingshot type launcher works well. When used on 2 Meters the line can be attached directly to the top of the vertical element. For 1 ¼ Meter or 70 cm use, first tie around the threaded end of the SO-239 and form a second loose loop around the vertical element for stability.
2) While in a motel or similar quarters a push pin inserted into drywall above an interior doorway or a window will support the fishing line temporarily.
